Despite being hit twice, “he was able to drive away,” California Highway Patrol Officer Jesus Garcia said.
The crash was reported just before 9 a.m. near Sixth Street, according to Garcia.

There was a traffic slowdown near Sixth Street, and the agent, driving a Chevrolet Cruze, and a Toyota Corolla behind the agent began to brake. However, a Toyota Tacoma failed to slow and struck the Corolla at “full freeway speed,” Garcia said.
“The Corolla went to the side, and the Tacoma also hit the back of the Cruze,” he said.
The driver of the Corolla was taken to an area hospital, complaining of pain.
Officers were still on scene awaiting tow trucks to remove the Toyotas, but Garcia said the truck was stuck in the traffic jam.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
