A woman and man who were killed in a two-vehicle crash northwest of San Jacinto Thursday have been identified, according to coroner’s officials.
Tajahnae Jones, 21, and Ronald Filetti, 46, were both pronounced dead on Highway 79 south of Gilman Springs Road, according to a Riverside County Coroner’s release
The California Highway Patrol says Jones, a resident of Ontario, was a passenger in 2003 Honda Civic and Filetti, a resident of San Bernardino, was the driver of a Toyota Prius.
Sherydan M. Teaney, 21, of Lake Elsinore, the Honda’s driver, was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries, according to a CHP release.
Both the Honda and Prius were traveling at speeds higher than 70 mph when the Honda made an unsafe lane change, striking the Toyota, according to the release.
Both vehicles lost control, traveled off the roadway and down a 30-foot embankment, according to the CHP. Both vehicles overturned before coming to a rest on their wheels.
Witnesses at the scene said the vehicles appeared to be racing, according to a CHP official.
