Fontana checkpoint nets 1 DUI arrest, 20 license violators

FONTANA >> One motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in Fontana and 20 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle while unlicensed or with a suspended or revoked license during a checkpoint Saturday night, according to a Fontana Police Department news release.

Police set up the DUI/driver’s license checkpoint from 8 p.m. until 3 a.m. Sunday on Sierra Avenue at West Terra Vista Drive in the city’s Sierra Heights neighborhood, the news release stated.

Some 727 vehicles were screened and two additional citations issued during the checkpoint. The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
