CLAREMONT >> A Long Beach man was arrested Friday on suspicion of the burglary of a gas station in the Wolf’s Market Plaza witnessed by a Lyft driver early Thursday morning.
Claremont police took Juan Martinez, 27, into custody, according to a police department news release.
Shortly after midnight, the Lyft driver called police, saying he was at the intersection of Arrow Highway and Indian Hill Boulevard. He said he watched two people break the glass door of the Chevron Station at 160 W. Foothill Blvd.
The two men then reportedly jumped in a van driven by a third person, so the Lyft driver followed the van to a commercial property in neighboring Montclair, where the getaway vehicle apparently ran out of gas, the release stated.
Police searched the area but only apprehended Martinez.
Martinez was booked into the Claremont city jail on suspicion of burglary. He is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
The remaining burglary suspects are still at large.
