POMONA >> As many as 10 cars were involved in a crash that shut down all lanes of the westbound 10 Freeway near the 57 Freeway in Pomona, officials said.

A SigAlert has been issued and lanes were expected to remain closed until after 6 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol incident log.

One lane reopened at 5:53 a.m.

All lanes were open around 6:40 a.m.

The crash, coupled with usual slowing on the freeway, led to a traffic backup to Rancho Cucamonga.

The crash was first reported just before 5 a.m. and initially involved about four vehicles, official said. A short time later, CHP authorities reported an additional five vehicles caught in the traffic snarl.

The number of injuries and the extent were not immediately clear as of 5:30 a.m.
