CHINO >> A Chino man allegedly driving while intoxicated struck and injured a pedestrian Friday evening, Chino police officials said.
John Colaianni, 67, was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving while impaired causing injury, according to a police news release. The man Colaianni reportedly struck was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where his condition is unknown.
Just after 6:30 p.m., Chino police were called to the intersection of Central and Francis avenues for a person hit by a car.
Police found a 65-year-old Chino man on the ground suffering from unspecified non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital. A preliminary investigation indicates Colaianni was traveling north on Central Avenue in a Ford Edge when he struck the man who was crossing the street, police say.
Investigators say Colaianni was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
