SAN DIMAS >> A Coroner’s official on Friday identified the driver killed in a solo crash on the southbound 57 Freeway connector road to the eastbound 10 Freeway as a 22-year-old San Bernardino man.

Juan Manuel Machuca Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:36 p.m. Thursday, according to Coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter.

The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol shortly after 4 p.m.

Machuca was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer at an unsafe speed when it veered off the road as it curved to the left, according to the CHP. The sport utility vehicle crossed a dirt embankment on the east side of the connector road, hit a concrete barrier and overturned.
