Fiery big rig crash closes northbound 15 Freeway at Baseline Avenue for nearly 10 hours

RANCHO CUCAMONGA >> All lanes of the northbound 15 Freeway were shut down at Baseline Avenue for nearly 10 hours after a tractor trailer carrying tires erupted into flames earlier this morning leading to a traffic nightmare, officials said.

The incident took place just after 1 a.m. and led to the hours-long shut down, according to the California Highway Patrol incident log. There were reports the big rig may have crashed into at least one other vehicle.

Vehicles were being taken off the freeway at Foothill Boulevard as crews worked to first extinguish the flames and then remove the large vehicle from the freeway, according to reports.

A hazardous material crew was called out to help clean up several gallons of diesel fuel that spilled as a result of the crash.

It’s unclear if anyone was injured in the crash and fire.
