Man dies after falling in front of moving bus

POMONA >> An 88-year-old man died Friday after falling in front of a moving bus, police officials said.

Officers responded to reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision at Reservoir Street, north of Phillips Boulevard, at about 10 a.m., police officials said in a news release.

A transit bus traveling northbound on Reservoir Street was preparing to stop when a pedestrian tripped and fell into the street. He was struck by the bus tires and died at the scene.

The driver was properly licensed and showed no signs of intoxication, officials said.

No further details were immediately available.

The collision is being investigated by the Pomona Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team. Anyone with information can call police at 909-620-2081.
