POMONA >> A Pomona police officer was injured Friday morning when a civilian vehicle struck the cruiser he was driving, authorities said.

The collision occurred around 8 a.m. near Park Avenue and Artesia Street, according to Cpl. A. Bostrom of the Pomona Police Department’s Traffic Services Bureau.

An initial investigation revealed that a civilian vehicle struck the police unit, causing it to collide with a parked car, Bostrom said.

The officer was “a little banged up” and taken to a hospital where he was treated and released, a watch commander said.

The other driver was not injured, Bostrom said.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Anyone with information about the collision was urged to call the Pomona Police Department at 909-620-2081. Anonymous tips can be provided through Crime Stoppers by calling 800-222-TIPS.
