Upland police search for hit-and-run driver who killed former homecoming queen

UPLAND >> Upland detectives are searching for the driver who struck and killed a former Upland High School homecoming queen last week and fled the scene.

Kristen Diane Pretzer, 47, was found March 30 on the sidewalk in the 200 block of South Mountain Avenue just after 2 a.m., according to Upland police officials.

Her dog, Honeydew, was found with her, officials said. Prezter, who had been homeless, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities determined Pretzer had been the victim of a hit-and-run driver.

“We need people to come forward for my sister,” said Pretzer’s older brother, Johnnie Young. “This driver hit Kristen and left her on the side of the road to die.”

Investigators believe the vehicle that most likely struck and killed Pretzer was a 2012 to 2015 Honda Accord. Following the crash, it should have front end and right front damage to the headlight and grill, according to a police statement.

“My sister was a mother with four children who will never get to see her again. Kristen deserved better,” Young said. “Please help us find this driver and get justice for Kristen and her children. If you saw anything that night or you’ve seen this car with recent front end damage, please contact the Upland Police Department.”

Honeydew is being held at a local animal shelter.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Upland Police Department Traffic Investigators at 909-946-7624 ext. 3342.
