Suspected DUI driver leads Fontana police on chase that ends in Highland

FONTANA >> A suspected drunk driver lead police on a chase early Sunday morning that ended when the driver crashed into a parked car in Highland, Fontana police reported.

Gilbert Loera, 27, was arrested on suspicion of felony evading and DUI, police said.

The incident began at 1:23 a.m. in the area near Sierra and Baseline avenues in Fontana, said Sgt. Kurt Schlotterbeck of the Fontana Police Department.

The pursuit ended at the dead-end of Baseline in Highland, police said. The driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment and later booked into custody.

No further details were immediately available.
