JURUPA VALLEY >> A pedestrian was killed Saturday when he was struck by a suspected drunk driver who lost control of his car at a Jurupa Valley intersection.
The crash happened at 9:10 a.m. at the intersection of 68th Street and Wineville Avenue, near Louis Vandermolen Fundamental Elementary School and just east of the 15 Freeway.
A driver lost control of his car and hit a pedestrian and an occupied, parked truck, said sheriff’s Deputy Mike Vasquez, who said alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash.

A man inside the parked truck sustained minor injuries.
The suspected drunk driver and his passenger were uninjured. The driver was detained by deputies and could face charges.
