1 killed in Rancho Cucamonga crash

RANCHO CUCAMONGA >> A crash killed the driver after the car he was in smashed into a tree early Tuesday morning.

The crash was first reported around 12:40 a.m. near Victoria Park Lane and Base Line, said Sgt. Tim Nichols with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Rancho Cucamonga station.

Investigators determined the unidentified driver was traveling south on Victoria Park Lane in a Honda when for unknown reasons, he lost control, striking a small tree and causing the car to rotate clockwise. The driver’s side door then collided with a larger tree, officials said.

The area around the crash was blocked off as the Major Accident Investigation Team investigated the incident.
