CHINO HILLS >> The man who rearended a school bus on the 71 Freeway Friday died over the weekend and has been identified as 28-year-old Brandon Joseph Tabita of Corona.
Tabita died Saturday at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner’s website.
Early Friday morning, Tabita was driving his white Ford Focus southbound State Highway 71, when it collided with the back of a school bus just south of Pine Avenue wedging the small vehicle under the bus.
There were no children aboard the school bus, but a woman passenger in the bus did sustain some injuries in the crash, according to the Chino Valley Fire District. The bus driver was not injured.
Firefighters used the jaws of life to pull Tabita from the mangled wreckage.
