CAJON PASS >> Traffic through the Cajon Pass was at a near standstill for a couple of hours Friday morning following a three-vehicle crash on the 15 Freeway, according to California Highway Patrol reports.
The crash, at Kenwood Boulevard, resulted in a 15-mile backup to Oak Hill Road at the top of the Cajon Pass, prompting authorities to issue a SigAlert. It was canceled shortly after 9 a.m., Caltrans officials said via Twitter.
The crash was reported just before 7 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the freeway, according to the CHP incident log. A vehicle overturned and was blocking two lanes of traffic.
“The weather and the roads are fine, and there are still crashes,” said Tamara Thomas, of Hesperia, a waitress at the Summit Inn Restaurant, which sits at the top of the Cajon Pass in Oak Hills.
“Traffic is backed up all the way down into the pass,” she said. “It’s pretty bad.”
Additional crashes added to the already heavy traffic including one at highways 138 and the 15.
A few other crashes, mostly fender-benders, were reported along the southbound lanes of the freeway.
Some injuries were reported, but the extent was not clear.
