ONTARIO >> The four adults and a child killed in a car crash Thursday night were identified Friday by the San Bernardino County coroner’s office.
A Toyota Yaris traveling east on the 10 Freeway exited at an unknown but high speed on Vineyard Avenue at 7:03 p.m. and crashed into a Toyota sedan traveling north on Vineyard Avenue, CHP Officer Christina Wood said Friday.
The crash killed all four of the sedan occupants — Matthew Joseph Pusateri, 29, from Mission Viejo; Anthony Andrew Flores, 30, from Hemet; Jeffrey Albert Willey, 29, from Huntington Beach; and Monica Marie Flores, 37, from Arcadia, according to the coroner’s office.
Joel Michael Pineda, 7, a passenger in the out-of-control Yaris, died in the emergency room, the coroner’s officer said.
The three other occupants of the Yaris were taken to San Antonio Community Hospital in Upland with non-life-threatening injuries, Wood said.
“It’s still unclear as to why she wasn’t able to negotiate the turn,” Wood said. “It’s very tragic, and it’s still under investigation.”
Investigators do not suspect any alcohol or drugs were involved, she said.
