GLENDORA — A man was arrested for allegedly driving drunk when he struck and critically injured a 65-year-old motorcyclist Sunday night.

Glendora police Lt. Matt Williams said the collision happened on Foothill Boulevard at Galanto Avenue around 5:20 p.m.

The motorcyclist and the driver of a Nissan Armada were westbound on Foothill Boulevard in the right lane, Williams said. He said the sport utility vehicle hit the motorcyclist when he slowed to make a right turn on Galanto Avenue.

The driver, Clarence Calhoun, 72, of Monrovia, was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence.

“It was evident to officers at the scene that he was intoxicated,” Williams said.

Lt. Matt Egan said the motorcyclist was taken to Los Angeles County – USC Medical Center in critical condition. He did not know the man’s current condition.

Calhoun remains in custody at Glendora police jail on $100,000 bail. Egan said Calhoun will be arraigned Tuesday at West Covina Superior Court.
